In recent years there has been a rise in men turning to ‘pearling’ to enhance sexual pleasure for their partner during intercourse.
Pearling entails the men to insert plastic beads or pearls under the skin of his penis by either a piercing professional or by the man himself. This is meant to boost physical stimulation by applying extra friction to a womans clitoris.
Dr Tobias Kohler, men’s sexual health expert, has warn that pearling can be dangerous as it can damage the urethra (a tube that carries urine from the bladder) and cause chronic pain, and even cause erectile dysfunction and scar tissue formation.
It has been reported that a 19 year old man from Flordia tried inserting a pearl into his penis, but seven hours after making the incision he was rushed to hospital with swelling and worsening pain to his penis and blood in his urine.
Doctors had to remove a hematoma (a deep swelling of clotted blood) and cauterized the wounds to stop the bleeding.

A clinical trial is underway which will hopefully show that Cialis weakens the ability of a tumour to fight the human immune system.
The trial is specifically focusing on those people suffering from tumours in the head and neck.
Professor Joseph Califano from the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital explained that a suppressed immune system could be the reason why these tumours respond so aggressively. He added that Cialis could prevent the immune system from producing nitric oxide which was being used by the tumours to create a shield to protect them.
It is hoped that Cialis will help the body to fight tumours on its own and cause them to shrink and possibly disappear.
Other research has already been done using Viagra for cancer treatment by Professor Ivan Borrello , a colleague of Dr. Califano. They have been working together on other studies using mice but reportedly prefer using Cialis because it works for longer period before wearing off.
One of the great advantages of using Cialis to treat head and neck tumours is that the drug is safe and its side effects are minimal. In fact it was even noted that when compared to radiotherapy or chemotherapy the side effects of Cialis were significantly more pleasant!
Obviously the Cialis will not cure cancer alone but it could be used as a complementary treatment alongside standard cancer therapies.
Both men and women are being enrolled into the clinical trial which has been funded by the National Cancer Institute in America. It is hoped that the daily doses of Cialis over the two week trial period will boost the immune systems of the participants.
Dr. Califano mentioned that the male participants were very happy about the idea of being given Cialis as part of their treatment for cancer.

Scientists have warned women who regularly use talcum powder on their genitals that they have a higher risk of ovarian cancer.
Researchers studied 2041 women with ovarian cancer and 2100 women who was free of the disease.
They found those who used talc were 33% higher risk of ovarian cancer.
Dr Daniel Cramer, of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, thinks there should be warning labels on talcum powder as talc can get into the vagina and the upper gential tract if applied to the genitals.
The study came a week after Johnson & Johnson had to pay $72 million to the family of a women who allegedly died of ovarian cancer after using their baby powder.

Around 40-70% of men will experience sexual dysfunction at some point in life.
To avoid the embarrassment of speaking to their doctor or paying for a prescription, many buy over-the-counter (OTC) products.
However some over-the-counter drugs which are sold as alternatives to prescription only medication (POM) actually contain the active ingredients of the prescription only drugs.
It has been found that an OTC product was advertised as “natural” but contained Sildenafil, the same ingredient found in the prescription only medicine Viagra which is used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED).
Sildenafil belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase-5-inhibitors (PDE5Is).
PDE5is cannot be legally sold over-the-counter as taking them without doctors supervision can be dangerous for someone with an undiagnosed cardiac condition, and other conditions such as high or low blood pressure.

It has been revealed that carbohydrates could be bad for your lungs aswell as your waistline.
A study found that there was a 49% increased risk of lung cancer in people with a high glycemic index diet compared to those with a low glycemic index diet.
However the study also found glycemic load had no significant association with lung cancer risk. Therefore it could suggest that it is the quality, not the quantity, of carbohydrates consumed that may increase the risk of lung cancer.
Lung cancer is one of the most common cancer and around 44,500 people in the UK are diagnosed every year.
