Is Water The Key To Weightloss?

Water may be the secret to weightloss, according to  new research.water

Dr Tammy Chang, an assistant professor in the department of family medicine at the University of Michigan’s Medical School, and her colleagues studied a nationally representative sample of 9,528 adults from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Health and Nutrition Examination Survery (NHANES).

They found that those with a high BMI and obese people are more likely to be dehydrated, compared to slimmer people who are more likely to be well hydrated.

Roughly one in three of the adults, who were aged 18 to 64, were found to be inadequately hydrated.

Dr Tammy Chang said: ‘The link between hydration and weight is not clear.

Our study further explains this relationship on a population level using an objective measure of hydration.

We often hear recommendations that drinking water is a way to avoid overeating because you may be thirsty rather than hungry.

Hydration may be overlooked in adult weight management strategies.

Our findings suggest that hydration may deserve more attention when thinking about addressing obesity on a population level.

Staying hydrated is good for you no matter what, and our study suggests it may also be linked to maintaining a healthy weight.’

Do You Want To Be Slim? Eat In!

Eating out might make your wallet feel lighter, but the same thing might not be said when you step on the scales..

Dining out could be making you gain weight and increasing your risk of diabetes.

According to research, people who usually have their dinner at home are slimmer and are 15% less likely to have diabetes compared to those who eat out.

For 26 years, researcher Geng Zong followed the health of 100,000 middle-aged men and women.

The participants were asked questions about their lifestyle, diet and where they ate their meals.

The results showed that those who ate their evening meal at home five to seven times a week are 15% less likely to develop diabetes than those who ate at home only twice a week.

People who ate at home ate more fruit, veg and whole grains, consumed less fizzy drinks and excerised more, which resulted in them gaining less weight over the years.

All the volunteers were free of diabetes at the start of the study.
However, by the end of the 26  years, more than 9,000 had developed diabetes.
